Game overview
With the great reception of Potato: the Roots to Hell on itch.io and a hosted in the Bristol VR Lab showcase, a decision was made to take this adventure to the next level... A new Tater and Tots chapter is now in progress and this time Tater will get a chance to save the Crown of Yggpotatil from the mysterious forces that invaded it following the defeat of Mephisto. Will Tater finally find Tots?
DISCOVER THE NARRATIVE DESIGN
While the gameplay is still in development and not ready to showcase, a big part of the narrative design has now been completed and can be shared. Take a peek at the (work-in-progress) backstories and details of new NPCs, enemies and bosses! Learn a little about the upcoming environments, weapons, upgrades and even story timeline!
RPG QUEST SYSTEM
Yes, there will be an RPG system! Main quests and side quests are on the way to provide a more open and immersive narrative experience. You'll be able to follow side quests to explore more of Yggpotatil or avoid them to focus on the core story.
VARIETY OF COMBAT OPTIONS
And yes, there will be a complex combat system! Different weapon types will be available to Tater to fight Crown's enemies who stand in his way. He'll be able to choose from short and long range weapons as well as traps (and of course his valuable Blue Flamed Torch!). You'll need to choose your weapons wisely if you want to get ahead of the enemies. Each enemy has certain weaknesses which you'll be able to learn about during your travels...
AN ENVIRONMENTAL SURPRISE
But that's not everything! Most planets held on Yggpotatil's branches will also include hidden areas Tater will need to active the door to. Such areas will contain special surprises such as epic weapons and new clothes for Tater. And if you discover an unidentified whole in the wall go ahead and jump in! Unique warp zones await - there you'll be able to fight back the dark forces, gain more experience and level up quicker!
